How to Cook & Make Pizza with Premade Pizza Dough
Want to know how to make pizza with premade dough? Simply follow the steps below.
-
Defrost
If you freeze your dough, you’ll need to leave adequate time for it to defrost before using it.
-
Roll
Sprinkle some flour across your rolling surface so the dough doesn’t stick to it. Remember, the thinner you roll your dough, the crispier your crust will be. For an extra thin base, we recommend rolling your dough out onto parchment paper to prevent it from falling apart when you move it to a baking tray or pizza stone.
-
Pre-bake
Before adding toppings, pre-bake your dough for roughly 5-6 minutes at 250°C. This helps seal the dough so your pizza doesn’t get soggy. Pre-baking also gets the base nice and crispy on the outside while keeping things light and fluffy in the middle.
-
Sauce and Toppings
Add a thin layer of sauce (too thick and you could end up with a dense and soggy base). Tomato-based sauce is a popular choice, but there are plenty of other options, including olive oil and pesto. After the sauce, it’s time to add your toppings. This can include meats, cheese, mushrooms, and your favourite veggies.
-
Bake
Baking times will vary depending on the size and thickness of your pizza base, but generally speaking, our dough balls take about 3 minutes to cook at 300°C, while our pizza bases take 5-7 minutes at 220°C.
-
Cool
Once the cheese is a golden brown and your edges are crispy, remove your pizza from the oven and leave it to sit for a couple of minutes. This makes it easier to cut and also prevents over-eager diners from burning their mouths.
-
Enjoy!
We don’t think you’ll need help with this part. Once the pizza has cooled a little, get ready to dive in.
Can You Freeze Premade Pizza Dough?
Absolutely you can freeze premade pizza dough! Letizza pizza dough can be stored in the freezer (-18C) for up to 12 months.
When it’s time to cook, our dough balls require approximately 8 hours to defrost at room temperature, or 24 hours in the refrigerator (with an additional 2-3 hours at room temperature)
Types of Italian Pizza You Can Make With Our Premade Pizza Dough
Pizza Napoletana
Originating in Naples, Italy, Pizza Napoletana (also known as Neapolitan Pizza) is a simple, ‘no frills’ kind of pizza. It’s traditionally made with mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, tomatoes, and olive oil on a round base.
Caprese Pizza
Hailing from the Island of Capri, Caprese Pizza is traditionally topped with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala (buffalo mozzarella), olive oil, and fresh basil leaves.
Pizza Quattro Formaggi
‘Quattro formaggi’ literally translates to ‘four cheese’, and who could say no to that?
While you can choose whichever cheeses you like, most Quattro Formaggi pizzas feature Buffalo Mozzarella and Gorgonzola Piccante. The final two cheeses can vary from place to place, though two popular choices are Parmigiano Reggiano and a creamy cheese such as Fontina or Robiola
Pizza alla Pala
A Roman specialty that translates to ‘pizza on a peel’, Pizza alla Pala is named after the paddle upon which it’s cooked and served. While Pizza alla Pala can feature a range of different toppings, it’s instantly recognisable for its elongated oval shape, which makes it perfect for sharing with friends or family (…or not).
